Master Electrician

 

Summary

That Solar Company is an electrical service company specializing in commissioning, maintenance, system performance and troubleshooting of commercial and utility scale solar installations.

We are looking for a highly skilled Master Electricians with an active Massachusetts Master Electricians license.The base of services will be electrical maintenance, service and repair in the field of renewable energy, specifically solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. While direct experience in PV systems is preferred, experience in installation, service and troubleshooting of variable Frequency Drives / Fire Alarm / DAS and SCADA will provide a sufficient base from which to acclimate.  Additionally, a strong understanding of the fundamentals of electricity and sound troubleshooting skills are required.

 

Description of duties

Below is a brief description of duties that will be expected from this position. These duties will change as required:

–          Perform routine maintenance, repair and firmware revisions on power conditioning systems (inverters) of all makes and models

–          Inspect Large scale solar energy facilities for proper installation, operation and maintenance

–          Repair all models of inverters (TSC will provide OEM certification training as required)

–          Commission large scale solar energy facilities, including but not limited to; insulation testing (megger testing), I-V curve testing, thermal imagery, torque tests and performance evaluations

–          Troubleshoot PV system ground faults

–          Troubleshoot PV system performance issues

–          Identify unsafe work or operating conditions and take proper action to neutralize hazards

–          Review of construction prints and verify electrical calculations as well as field verification

–          Document and research all non-conforming issues found after an inspection.

–          Report all NEC code violations found after an inspection

–           After each site visit, generate a report of all findings using Microsoft word and excel to present to the customer as a professional document

–          Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on job-site, then conduct a safety meeting with all other employees on proper safety protocol

–          Provide technical support and consistent application of standards and procedures, so as to provide quality assurance for Maintenance, Operations and Engineering for new and existing installations

–          Perform a complete cost assessment after each job

–          Document all receipts, labor cards and sub-contractor invoices

–          Write detailed work instructions on all new tasks performed

 

Experience

Required

–          State Licensed Master Electrician

–          Strong computer skills – Excel, Word, overall navigation and organization

–          Clean driving record and back ground

–          Troubleshooting and service experience in either power conditioning units, fire alarm, DAS/SCADA

–          Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills

–          Experienced in measuring voltage, current, frequency, insolation, and phase rotation

–          Willing to travel

–          Ability to gather data accurately and compile and prepare professional reports on field activities

Recommended

–          Experience with commercial PV systems

–          Experience with firmware upgrade procedures

–          NABCEP certification

–          DAS/SCADA installation and troubleshooting experience

–          Man-lift certification

–          NFPA 70e training

–          CPR

–          OSHA certification
